Myths & Legends position concerning COVID 19
The COVID-19 virus is still extremely active as was evidenced by the large number of basketball players who contracted the virus while competing in the Australian Masters Games in Perth recently.
The Club has the following obligations:
- The Club’s first responsibility is to protect the health of our members. We must be aware of potential risks to our members; especially taking into account the mature ages and health issues affecting many of our members.
- Our affiliation with Basketball Victoria requires that we align with this body.
Basketball Victoria as of 26 April, 2022 update, states the following:
- Patrons won’t be required to have two vaccination doses or show their vaccination status before entering any venue, including physical recreation facilities.
- The requirement for patrons of venues to check-in using the Service Victoria app will end, with operators not required to keep any attendance records or maintain a COVID-19 Check-in Marshall.
- The Veneto Club - Our main training venue no longer requires that individuals entering their premises (including the basketball court) be fully vaccinated.
- Royal Talbot Centre – Tuesday Night training. As this is a hospital venue, the hospital requires all patrons utilising the basketball court must be fully vaccinated (2 doses) and follow the appropriate check in requirements as indicated at the venue
Our Club mindful of points 2 and 3 above, therefore no longer requires players attending training/competition to be vaccinated for COVID-19 with the exception of Royal Talbot Centre on Tuesday nights.
However, we ask that if players have any COVID-19, cold or flu symptoms that they do not attend training/competition.
We also ask that players use common sense in maintaining their health, follow their medical professional’s advice concerning vaccinations, etc. and be mindful of health risks to their teammates.
2022 - Training, Myths & Legends, Time to Register with PlayHQ
