The 2021 Year was again greatly impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Club hopes that the 2022 Year is a much better year for mature aged basketball and for the Club’s members.

Reports:

• The Club’s 2021 Christmas function is to be set soon, probably early February, 2022. We will email the details to members shortly.
• The Club is presently training at the Veneto Club, Bulleen on Fridays (10.30am – 12.00) and Sundays (9.00am to 12.00). COVID requirements are being followed. Please note these training sessions are open to men & women members.
• Club’s 0/50 competition – Royal Talbot venue on Tuesday nights. We will not be starting basketball here until code black is lifted. Possibly February 2022.

2022 Masters tournaments – Australia.

Australian Masters Games - Perth

-       These Games originally scheduled for October 2021 have been postponed to 23^rd to 30^th April, 2022.

-       The Club had registered the following teams (these have been transferred to April 2022:

Women:       0/55 (2), 0/60 (2), 0/65

Men:             0/50, 0/55, 0/60, 0/65, 0/70, 0/75, 0/80. 

Total 12 teams.

• The Club had booked 16 rooms at the Sage Hotel, Perth. The hotel has transferred these bookings to the April dates.
• Any other players who wish to play please contact your team manager. Being in Perth there is still no certainty these Games will proceed.

Bulleen aged handicapped tournament – July, 2022

• This tournament was successfully held in July last year (between lockdowns), however unfortunately interstate competitors could not attend.

Pan Pacific Masters Games – Gold Coast

• These Games originally scheduled for November 2021 have been postponed to November 2022.
• The Club had registered the following teams (these teams have been transferred to the new date):

Women:    0/50, 0/55(2), 0/60, 0/65.

Men:          0/40(2), 0/45, 0/50, 0/55, 0/60. 0/65, 0/70(3), 0/75, 0/80.

Total 18 teams

Additional players should contact their team managers.

• The Club had booked 23 apartments at the Meriton Serviced Apartments, Broadbeach. These apartments have been transferred to the 2022 dates.

Possible Overseas Tournaments in 2023.

Myths & Legends position concerning COVID-19 vaccinations:

 The Club has the following obligations:

• The Club’s first responsibility is to protect the health of our members; especially taking into account the mature ages and health issues affecting many of our members.
• Our affiliation with Basketball Victoria requires that we align with this body. They have made the decision to require all individuals aged 16 plus to be fully vaccinated (unless medical exempt) to participate in basketball activities.
• Our training venue – The Veneto Club require that all individuals entering their premises (including the basketball court) be fully vaccinated.
• The Victorian Government has requirements concerning indoor venues and other COVID 19 issues (e.g. QR recording, etc.)
• Our Club has no requirements that all members be vaccinated. However, to protect the health of members, all members who attend training/competition are required to be fully vaccinated.
