Myths & Legends Leading Masters Development (AMBA)

Members will recall that our January 2025 edition of the Bounce newsletter included information about Australian Masters Basketball Association (AMBA)

  • The working group named Australian Masters Basketball Australia (AMBA) regrouped in January 2025 and formalised its objective to develop structured pathways and opportunities for players aged 35 to 95, enabling them to continue playing the sport they love, into their later years.

Australian Basketball History – Peter Paterson

We hope you enjoy episode #12 of our Australian Basketball History series - an in-depth interview with Peter Patterson, the driving force behind Australia's first ever masters basketball tournament, and the first ever member of Myths and Legends Australia.

We sat down with 78-year-old Peter to talk about the inaugural Australian master's basketball tournament held in Launceston Tasmania in 1987, the players and personalities of the day.

Peter takes us through the Myths and Legends origin story, and his recollections of how the club was founded and evolved.

Peter is a superb storyteller, and a sensational human being.
