Tournament Entry Policy

Club Team Entry Philosophy

At Myths and Legends Australia, we are committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment where players of all ages and abilities can develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.

We aim to ensure that every player can compete at an appropriate level while representing the club with pride and respect.

Purpose

This policy outlines the principles and procedures that guide Myths and Legends Australia in entering teams and players into external tournaments. It ensures fair play, player safety, and compliance with tournament regulations.

1. Player Eligibility and Age Groups

• Players may be permitted to play down an age group to assist in forming complete teams when necessary.
• Players are not permitted to play up into an older age group.

2. Team Composition and Entry Classification

• If a team includes several younger players but is primarily composed of older players, that team will be entered into the younger age group to keep team together for tournament participation.

3. Inclusion of Underage Players

• The Club may, in exceptional circumstances, request the inclusion of a single slightly underage player to enable team participation.
• Any such request will be made in writing to the tournament organizer and will be subject to their approval.
• The Club will not confirm participation until the organizer’s decision has been received.

4. Adherence to Tournament Rules

• Where a tournament has its own underage inclusion clause or specific entry regulations, Myths Basketball Club will fully adhere to those rules.
• All team entries and player requests will be made in line with the tournament’s official guidelines.

5. Insufficient Player Numbers

• If the Club is unable to field a full team in a particular age group due to low player numbers, Myths Basketball Club will:
  • Work with tournament organizers to find suitable placement for affected players with another team, or
  • Explore alternative arrangements to ensure that players can participate in the competition.

6. Commitment to Fair Play and Development

• Myths Basketball Club remains dedicated to providing equitable opportunities for all players.
